Kelly Rowland Plans Christmas Reunion With Father She Hasn't Seen In 23 Years

Father Christmas

Kelly Rowland is set for a very special Christmas this year after making arrangements to see her estranged father.

It'll be the first time the X Factor judge will have seen Christopher Lovett in 23 years after he walked out of the family home when Kelly was 7-years-old.

Speaking to The Mirror in June, he made a plea to Kelly, saying: "Kelly, I love you with all my heart. Please forgive me and let me be your dad again."

After seeing his plea in the paper, Kelly told Cosmopolitan magazine in October that she was hopeful for a reconciliation. "He reached out to me saying he wanted to see me," she said. "But it's unfortunate he did it so publicly. I want to meet him, and soon, I really do. I forgave him a long time ago."

The singer also opened up on this year's X Factor after Misha B's mother got back in touch with the singing hopeful after giving her up as a baby.

"It's really important just to forgive my father," she said. "I want to meet him this Christmas, because now is the time, because tomorrow's not promised to us.

"I think it's important to forgive people and we move on, we have to. The pain is there, of course it will be there, and it's important to know that forgiveness is the first step towards healing it all."

And now it looks like a Christmas reunion is very much on the cards after Kelly told a US magazine that she is setting up a meeting this week.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror about the news, her father said: "This is the best Christmas present any father could dream of.

"Now it seems she has and might be ready to forgive me."
