Two People To Appear In Court Over Ticket Inspector Stabbing

Two people are to appear in court after a railway ticket inspector was stabbed in the back.

Charles Culley, 19, of Darwin Road, Tilbury, Essex, is charged with wounding and common assault and a 17-year-old boy from Tilbury is charged with wounding, common assault and possession of a bladed article.

Both are being held in police custody and will appear at Basildon Magistrates Court.

The 42-year-old inspector was attacked after challenging two people travelling without tickets at East Tilbury station.

He was taken to Basildon University Hospital, where he received three stitches before being discharged.
