How The Average Office Worker Spends Their Day

Do You Argue With Your Boss More Than Once A Day?

The average worker arrives at his or her desk at 8.09am, spends £3.23 on lunch, drinks three cups of tea or coffee, and argues with a colleague once a day, according to new research.

A study of 2,000 office employees showed a usual working day of nine hours 13 minutes, a 28-minute lunch break, normally sitting at their desk, with 10 minutes and 15 seconds spent on social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

The survey by Mars Drinks, aimed at finding the average daily life of British workers, also revealed that computer breakdowns were the main bugbear.

Many people who responded to the survey said also said they were annoyed when colleagues did not make their fair share of tea and coffee. (Make me a cup of tea. Ed)

Jenni Morgan of Mars Drinks UK said longer working hours had not dented peoples "enjoyment of the job".

"It is also very interesting to learn that we are, on the whole, a very agreeable lot who prefer to get along with colleagues and bosses rather than spend the day arguing and moaning," she said.

For our part HuffPoUK staff are kept watered and buzzing with at least six cups of coffee a day and currently being fed on a seemingly endless supply of Chomp bars. A nutritional regime that possibly contributes to the higher than average number of inter-office rows - not all of which end in tears.
