Liberty-Rose Finn, 4-Year-Old Cancer Victim, Forced To Clean Up Own Urine In Class

Teacher Made Four-Year-Old Cancer Victim Clean Up Own Urine

A four-year-old girl who battled a brain tumour that left her with bladder control problems was forced by her teacher to clean up her own urine after wetting herself at school, it has been reported.

Liberty-Rose Finn was made to stand with her nose to the wall "like a dunce", according to her parents Carl and Dawn, who described the incident as "devastating".

Despite an investigation being conducted by the school, the teacher remains in her post.

"The school said the teacher was remorseful and that was the end of the matter," Mr Finn added. "She wasn't even suspended during the investigation."

Liberty-Rose, who underwent nine months of chemotherapy, was reportedly not allowed to change out of her wet clothes and had to "scrub the floor with her bare hands".

Mr Finn added he and his wife felt the school, the governors and the education authority were trying to "quietly sweep the matter under the carpet."

"We were mortified to find out our little girl had been degraded in this way."

The girl's parents decided to break their silence after receiving a letter from Church Gresley infant and nursery school in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, which said the "matter had been dealt with".

Assistant Headteacher Charlotte Mosey said, “We have apologised to Liberty-Rose’s parents for this incident which goes against school policy and we have taken steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

"We pride ourselves on our excellent reputation for providing a high level of care and support to our children and we are sorry that on this occasion we fell below that standard.”

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire County Council added: “We’ve spoken to the acting headteacher and understand this was a one-off incident for which the school has apologised to the parents and has taken appropriate action to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
