Imogen Thomas: 'I'm In Binge Diet Hell'

'I'm In Binge Diet Hell'

Former Big Brother star Imogen Thomas has revealed she is stuck in a "diet-binge hell" saying she is unconfident with her body image.

Imogen, 28, is no stranger to posing in a bikini for glamour shots but the star admits she doesn't feel at her best as a size 12.

Speaking to Closer magazine, she said: "People think I'm confident with my body, but I'm not. I'm pushing a size 12, which I know isn't fat, but it's more about how I feel about it. I think I've got fat hips and I've never really been happy with my body. I've become obsessed.

"People say I'm silly for complaining about my body, but they're not in my head. I posted a photo on Twitter of me in my underwear, saying I'd gained weight over Christmas and couldn't wait to lose it. Boy, did I get slated!

"Everyone said I was attention-seeking and sending out the wrong message to young girls because I already had a slim figure. I didn't mean to upset anyone and I apologise if I made anyone angry. I know I've got body issues."

And the reality star says she feels being in the public eye puts pressure on her to look and feel a certain way.

On comments from members of the public, she said: "I take them to heart and it affects my relationships. Nearly all my boyfriends have told me to stop obsessing about my weight, but I can't help it.

"I feel like I've been on a diet all my life. People say I've got a great body, but I'm stuck in binge-diet hell."

Imogen revealed she starting loathing her looks at the age of 17 when she was living at home with her mum and eating the wrong food.

"I started hating my body when I was 14 and a size 12-14," she said. "I enjoyed my mum's home-cooking and was eating the wrong things. I lost weight by the time I was 17."

Despite the lack of confidence with her weight, Imogen, who famously had an affair with Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs, recently revealed she was happy with her city trader boyfriend Adam Horsley.

She said: "Adam's a nice, normal guy from a homely background. He's really sure of himself and treats me like a princess.

"I'll never date a footballer again. I don't understand why their wives take them back after they cheat."

The full interview appears in this week's Closer Magazine, out now.
