Christina Aguilera Considering Reconciliation With Estranged Father

Family Reunion

Christina Aguilera has admitted she is considering a reconciliation with her estranged father.

Pop star Christina has previously claimed she was emotionally and physically abused by her father Fausto, a US army sergeant, but the singer has suggested it may be time to rebuild their relationship.

In an interview with Latina magazine, she said: "I've talked about how rough things were for me and I'm sure he's heard it. He can't be thrilled about it. So maybe one day we can do lunch... I'm 31 years old now. Maybe it's time."

Christina fled her father and moved in with her grandmother when she was growing up and was estranged from her father for a decade until they briefly reunited in 2009. However, the Beautiful hitmaker felt there were too many bad memories to have him back in her life.

She said: "I let him back into my life briefly but I soon realised that he is not necessary in my life."

Speaking about her difficult childhood, Christina previously told E!: "Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from.

According to the Daily Mail, Christina's father admits he had a difficult relationship with Christina's mother Shelly but insists he loves his children.

"I never abused them in any way and they know that.

"Shelly and I disagreed on a lot of things and we both had hot tempers.

"I'm sorry to have ever raised a hand to my wife, but it was never brutal like Ike and Tina Turner."
