'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Teaser Trailer Is About As Bonkers As You'd Expect (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Trailer Does Exactly What It Says On The Tin

Seth Grahame-Smith's genre mash-up novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter takes the 16th President of the United States and makes him a part-time vampire killer. As you do.

Eccentric Russian director Timur Bekmambetov has taken that novel and turned it into a movie - and from the looks of things, it contains lots of Honest Abe (newcomer Benjamin Walker) slashing vampires (led by Rufus Sewell) with his trusty axe.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is politics kids are going to be interested in.

This being a trailer for a Timur Bekmambetov movie - the man who brought us the Angelina Jolie actioner vehicle Wanted back in 2008 - it's got more slow-mo than you can shake a very slow stick at... and we're kind of into that.

Plus, it's produced by notorious kookster Tim Burton, which means, as we all know, it'll be a little bit dark, and a little bit subversive. Though we're surprised not to see Helena Bonham-Carter on the castlist, mind.

And though it's not as completely off the range as space-Nazis-from-the-moon movie Iron Sky, it's close, and we like it. So for that reason alone, we're going to be writing its release date - 2 August 2012 - into our diaries in big red pen right about... now.
