Man Killed In Four-Car Pile-Up On A31 In Hampshire

A man has died following a four-car crash, police said.

The victim, aged in his 70s but not yet identified, was travelling alone in a Daihatsu when it crashed, causing him serious injuries.

The man, from Surrey, was later declared dead following the collision on the A31 at Ringwood, near the Ringwood flyover, Hampshire, just before 6pm yesterday.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said no injuries were reported among those travelling in the other three vehicles involved, two Fords and a Vauxhall.

Crash investigators closed the road to carry out an examination of the scene, forcing traffic to be diverted, but it was due to be fully reopened in time for this morning's rush-hour.

Witnesses are asked to call the Hampshire Constabulary roads policing unit, quoting Operation Calvert, on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
