Ian Paisley: Former First Minister's Staff Member Arrested For Taking Picture Of Recovering Politician

Man Arrested For Photographing Ian Paisley In Hospital Bed

A man has been arrested on suspicion of taking a picture of Ian Paisley in his hospital bed.

The 85-year-old former Northern Ireland First Minister is recovering from a serious illness in the Ulster Hospital outside Belfast.

The 41-year-old man detained is believed to be a staff member.

Police said he was arrested as part of an investigation into an allegation of misconduct in a public office.

He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Earlier this week Dr Paisley's son Ian Paisley Jnr said he was doing "very well" in hospital.

He was taken to the Ulster Hospital at Dundonald at the start of the month suffering from apparent heart failure. At one stage he was in intensive care.

Known as Lord Bannside since he was made a peer in 2010, he fell ill just 10 days after preaching his final sermon as a church minister.

Mr Paisley is a former moderator and founding member of the Free Presbyterian Church and was MP for north Antrim for almost 40 years.
