Michelle Ryan 'Cleanskin' Star Complains There Are 'Very Few' Comedy Roles For Women

'They Want You To Stand And Be Pretty'

Michelle Ryan has complained it is very hard to find good comedy roles for women.

The former star of misery-filled soap EastEnders and sci-fi show The Bionic Woman stars in new big screen terrorist thriller Cleanskin.

The 27-year-old actress told The Daily Telegraph what she'd really like to do next is comedy.

Michelle said: "Comedy roles is something I'm seeking, but there's very few. It's so difficult to find good comedy roles for women."

The 4.3.2.1 star added: "We're getting there with action roles, and the psychological complex roles often do have a place for women, but the comedy is not so much.

"They often want you to stand and be pretty next to the man who makes everyone laugh."

Set in London, Michelle's new movie Cleanskin stars Sean Bean as a secret agent on the track of a suicide bomber.
