Swiss Coach Crash: Belgian Children Wrote Of 'Adventurous' Holiday In Blog

Children On Tragic Ski Trip Wrote Of Swiss Adventures In Blog

Students on the fatal trip which killed 22 children kept a blog about their "adventurous" holiday and how much they missed their parents.

A blog by students at one school detailed how the 12-year-old Belgian children were enjoying their skiing trip.

"Today was totally the best," one of the children wrote.

"The adventurous walk was tiring but mega-cool. We won first prize for cleanest room. Tomorrow it's going to be colder."

A teacher on the trip wrote the children were not very homesick but added: "But from the reactions of the children we gather that they miss you a little bit."

Now closed, the blog reveals how much they were enjoying their holidays.

“Dear Mum and Dad, it’s super cool here,” a student wrote. “The food is delicious and everything is going great. But I miss you very much.”

Pictures of a morning of skiing, an open-air barbecue and a walk towards the hotel Weisshorn were uploaded on the website.

The last entries are messages to parents: “It’s supeeeeeeer here. The sun has been shining the whole day. See you on Wednesday.”

The children are thought to have been from two different schools, the Sint Lambertus school in Heverlee and from the ‘t Stekske school in Lommel.

A spokesperson for the Swiss government said a crisis centre has been set up and an emergency number provided for families.

An investigation is now under way.
