Could Lewis Hamilton be on a different podium in the near future?
Oscar-winning director Ron Howard has revealed he is courting the McLaren Formula One driver for a role in his new film about about battles between drivers in the sport.
Howard, director of A Beautiful Mind, said at Sunday's Empire Film Awards in London, to The Sun: "Lewis is great. The most impressive thing about him is that he came from a humble background and climbed to the top of his game.
Howard was awarded the Empire Inspiration at Sunday's ceremony
"I had a long chat with him while starting work on the film, he was basically a consultant.
"I don't know if he would go for it. There should be a role for him, if he wanted it."
Hamilton, who has had an on-off relationship with singer Nicole Scherzinger, would not be the first British sportsman to work on a film set.
