Dr Giles Fraser, Occupy London Supporting Priest, Gets New Job

Occupy Priest's New Job

The former canon chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral has found a new position within the Church of England five months after resigning over the handling of an anti-capitalist protest outside the landmark church.

Dr Giles Fraser will be parish priest of inner city St Mary, Newington, in south London, he announced on Twitter. He added that he would be writing about his new post and charting inner city life regularly in The Guardian.

Dr Fraser, 47, quit St Paul's in October rather than see the Occupy London protest evicted by force. The camp was finally removed at the end of February after legal action by the City of London Corporation.

Dr Fraser told the Guardian that he was looking forward to starting work after a difficult few months.

"After I resigned there was no plan B whatsoever," he said.

"It was just a total principled decision. It has been a very dark period thinking about what I'm supposed to be doing with my life."
