First there was the cheese-filled crust. Then the garlic bread crust. Now Pizza Hut have challenged the boundaries of pizza design again by pioneering a new hot dog-stuffed crust.
The addition of extra meat is probably the final frontier of stuffed crusts, and the idea of a crust filled with sausage seems like an idea that could only come from the United States, a country notorious for its bizarre concoctions.
However, it transpires that Pizza Hut will be rolling out the new option on pizzas in the UK, rather than in America.
It will come as a shock to a country that has pioneered weird food masterpieces such as the KFC Double Down, Baconnaise ("Everything should taste like bacon!") and the Candwich, but British customers will be the first to test out the new idea.
Currently, the new crust is only available on 14" takeaway pizzas but it is surely only a matter of time before the invention hits in-house menus.
The pizza has been available in Thailand and Japan since 2007 but this is the first time that Western customers will be able to try the crust.
