Jodie Kidd Urges IOC To Reinstate Polo As Olympic Sport (VIDEO)

Former model and Polo player Jodie Kidd has urged the International Olympic Committee to reinstate the sport for the Olympics.

As well as championing the return of the sport, the British model will also be drawing the teams who will be competing in this years Polo in the Park at Hurlingham.

Team GB have enjoyed former gold medal glory in the London Olympics in 1908 at the home of Polo, The Hurlingham Club. It was last played as an Olympic sport in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but was abandoned in the London 1948 games as the War took hold, in what became known as The Austerity Games.

Major David Dawnay captained Team GB back at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and passed down his medals to his son Sebastian Dawnay, who himself now captains MINT Team London. He displayed his father’s medals at today’s event to coincide with the petition launch. And what better day to hold this quintessential British Summer event than on St Georges Day.
