Beautiful bulldogs, Iowa's annual bulldog pageant, saw English bulldog Tyson take home the reigning crown this year, with judges praising the winner's "good looks and charm."
The tongue-in-cheek competition is held every year for the breed, known more for its spirit than its good looks. With their jutting jaws, barrel stomachs and squat legs, bulldogs usually come last in the beauty stakes.
However at Drake University, who hold the pageant in honour of their bulldog mascot, the podgy pooches paraded costumes, presented their most charming faces, and competed for titles such "Best Dressed" and "Mr Congeniality."
Devoted owners spruced up their patient pups, as they waddled about the arena dressed as fairies, cheeseburgers and sandwiches. However King pin was the title that every bulldog wanted, and Tyson managed to snare the crown.
