The Avengers Assemble: Jeremy Renner Admits 'We Got Nothing Done The Day We Worked Together'

Avengers Assemble star Jeremy Renner has revealed that the cast of the superhero blockbuster seldom came into contact with each other during the making of the film, which he admits was probably just as well.

We all got on massively, he told HuffPostUK in London, and we only worked together twice during the whole process, and we got nothing done that day.

The superhero cast also includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and hanging out together is what has left the biggest impression on Renner (also star of the recent Mission Impossible film, and soon to be seen in Hansel and Gretel):

“We had so much fun together, so that was the best part of that experience, getting to hang out with the cast.”

Renner, who was Oscar-nominated for his role in The Hurt Locker, plays down his contribution to Avengers Assemble, which sees a melting pot of the different heroes in Marvel’s comic books all coming together to fight the antics of Thor’s ill-intentioned brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

“I feel like I was barely in that movie,” admits Renner, who plays Hawkeye – he’s no specifically skilled superhero as such, but he’s a whizz with a bow and and arrow.

“I have no idea what that’s going to look like.

“Everybody has a smaller part, there are so many characters, so many superheroes, there’s only so much you can write for each one.

“We’re a small little pond in the bigger picture of the Marvel universe, we’re all just there to do our little bit and help tell the story in some way.

“But it’s a massive universe, it’s going to be a big spectacle, it’s going to be huge. For comic fans, they’ll be grinning ear to ear. "

Renner is also happy to admit he’s not anything like as invested in Marvel’s stories as the huge number of fans keen to see the new film.

“I’m not a big comic reader, and I didn’t really want to start now – so you’re asking the wrong guy about comics.”

He adds happily:

“I have no idea.”
