Blur Star Graham Coxon Flees Falmouth Beach Hotel Blaze While Three Guests Remain 'Unaccounted For' (PICTURES)

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon was among guests forced to flee a raging fire at a seafront hotel in Cornwall yesterday.

The 43-year-old was staying at the Falmouth Beach Hotel when the blaze began and took to Twitter to describe his experience.

Three people staying at the 120-bedroom hotel, which is popular with honeymooners, are still "unaccounted for", police said today.

Firefighters said the blaze, which was tackled by more than 100 firefighters at its peak, started at the rear of the property in Cliff Road and was whipped up by gale-force winds.

Urgent efforts were made to account for guests, many of whom were out on day trips at the time.

Devon and Cornwall Police said today three "have not been located at this time".

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The scene is still being monitored, the crew are monitoring hot spots and damping down.

"A fire investigation will be taking place later this morning."

Ten fire pumps were sent to the scene of the family-run hotel.

Reporters on the scene from the Falmouth Packet described the blaze as “massive” and local radio stations joined calls urging people to avoid the sea front as fire crews, police and ambulance gathered at the scene. Another Twitter eyewitness said the fire was "raging".
