Persistant rain has left Brits beleaguered this week as April showers continued into May, but the bank holiday promises to be drier despite forecasters warning that "unsettled" weather may continue.
Friday will signal the start of a wet weekend, but with clouds clearing by the evening, the north of England, and mid Scotland will wake up to a sunny Saturday morning, with rays set to last till lunchtime.
Flood warnings are still in place for anglian areas, the southwest, midlands and the southeast but a caravan park evacuated in Northampton earlier this week has now been deemed safe to return to, and a drier weekend has been promised.

The north and south of Wales will also enjoy sunshine on Saturday, however clouds will continue to hover over the middle of Wales and south of England.
Temperatures will dip from the mid-teens to around 11C over the weekend, with sun moving further south on Sunday and the mercury continuing to drop.
Bank holiday Monday promises to be a wet one for Scotland and northern Ireland, but with sunshine also forecast, the rain could be interspersed with some light relief for holidaymakers.
As rain poured across in England on Thursday, there were concerns that poor weather would cause a low turn out for local council elections.
Fine weather in Scotland however raised hopes that people would be drawn out to vote filling 1,223 council seats across all 32 councils.
A Scottish Labour spokesman said: "There is great campaigning weather across the country and we hope this will help drive up turnout."
