Queen Plods Around In Wellies At Royal Windsor Horse Show (PICTURES)

PICTURES: A Day Out In One's Wellies...

Pomp and circumstance follow the Queen wherever she goes, so it must have been a change for Her Majesty to be able to step out in some wellies and squish around in the mud watching her horses at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Only days after an incredibly regal showing at the Queen's Speech at Parliament on Monday and less than a month before the celebrations for her Diamond Jubilee, it made a change to see the Queen out in wellingtons and comfy jacket, as opposed to sparkling jewels and draping robes.

Her Majesty was attending the Royal Windsor Horse Show, only a short walk from her second home, Windsor Castle.

The event, which runs for five days between Wednesday and Sunday, features games, pageantry and displays from riding schools and mounted police from across the world.

No official word on which brand of welly the Queen prefers...
