Kerry McCarthy MP In Twitter Controversy After Calling Train Passenger 'Oaf We Should Have Killed'

Kerry McCarthy MP Labels Passenger 'Oaf We Should Have Killed When We Had The Chance'

A Labour MP who was previously the party's 'Twitter Tsar' may have been caught out by the social media site after describing one of her fellow train passengers as a "lager drinking oaf", adding he should have been "killed" "when we had the chance."

Kerry McCarthy MP represents Bristol East, a post she has held for almost seven years.

At around 2.30pm, she posted to her 13,000 followers that a passenger was playing music loudly and wearing a rude T-shirt:

"Oaf on train drinking lager and playing techno music out loud. Everyone being very British about it and not complaining. Then he stood up..."

"And was wearing a "I F***ed Your Girlfriend" T-Shirt. Should have killed him when we had the chance. Before he could breed."

She confessed that her tweets had been "flippant" and "in the context of him boasting about his sexual prowess." However this is not the first time that McCarthy has come a-cropper on the social media site.

In 2010 McCarthy wrote that Labour had received more votes than the Conservative party, and posted actual number of postal votes. It is illegal to reveal votes before they are officially published on election day.

She removed the post within minutes and said that she hadn't realised that "in her excitement" she had posted actual numbers of votes.
