Queen's Jubilee: Nick Clegg 'Delighted' To Join Constituents' Street Party

The Deputy Prime Minister said he was "delighted" to join constituents for a street party to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Nick Clegg and his wife, Miriam Gonzalez Durantez, brought a Victoria sponge cake to the event on Totley Hall Mead, in Totley, Sheffield.

The Sheffield Hallam MP ate party food and chatted and joked with other party-goers in the rain.

Mr Clegg said: "It is fantastic that right across Sheffield and the rest of the country people are coming together to celebrate this historic occasion.

"Miriam and I were delighted to join in with celebrations. We are grateful to local residents who have pitched in to help organise events like this in their local community.

"We might not have the sun, but that hasn't put people off getting in the spirit and having a great party."

Around 20 people attended the party, which was organised by people living on Totley Hall Drive and Totley Hall Mead.

Mr Clegg drank cordial and ate sandwiches and a pasty while talking to people and joking with children about football.
