Travel Site Showed Mac Users More Expensive Rooms

Mac users have been shown more expensive deals on online shopping websites, according to reports.

The Wall Street Journal said that the the travel site Orbitz was displaying different prices based on the type of computer being used.

The differences included more expensive rooms and pricier hotels.

The website did not show the same room at different rates, and has not been accused on wrongdoing.

According to the site Mac users spend up to 30% more on their holidays and hotels than PC users.

Mac users were also more likely to select a four or five star hotel.

The newspaper said the same deal was never shown for Mac users as PC users.

Macs are often said to be more expensive that many PCs, though Apple disputes that claim.,

Orbitz defended the policy, saying it was simply an "experiment|". It said the average spend by a Mac user was £64.
