'Oz: The Great And Powerful': Poster Shows Sam Raimi's Yellow Brick Road

FIRST LOOK: Sam Raimi's 'Wizard Of Oz' Origin Story

The first poster for Oz the Great and Powerful, Sam Raimi's Wizard of Oz origin story, has been revealed.

On show is a land filled with rolling green pastures, shiny emeralds, one gigantic tornado and a hot air balloon.

The film stars James Franco as a small-time magician Oscar Diggs who ends up being whisked away to the land of Oz.

On arrival he meets three witches - Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams) - and attempts to transform himself into a powerful wizard.

This is going to be different to the 1939 Wizard Of Oz film starring Judy Garland, but director Sam Raimi does plan on honouring the original film with a few black-and-white sequences.

The fantasy adventure, Raimi's first film since 2009's horror Drag Me to Hell, will be released in cinemas next March.
