German Chancellor Angela Merkel and France's newly-elected President Francois Hollande, two of the most influential characters in global politics, are also two of the biggest rivals on the European scene.
Unlike his predecessor Nicolas Sarkozy, one half of 'Merkozy', Hollande is not unknown to have his differences with the German leader over the eurozone crisis currently dominating international politics.
