17 new photos fromDredd 3D have been released, showing Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey in action.
The futuristic action film, directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) and written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later), is a completely new adaptation of the 2000AD comics story and is not connected to the poorly-received 1995 film, Judge Dredd, starring Sylvester Stallone.
Urban (JJ Abrams' Star Trek) stars as Judge Dredd, Thirlby (Juno) as the rookie Judge Anderson, and Lena Headey (300) as the villain, Madeline Madrigal, in a city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner.
The film's blurb reads:
DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary.
