The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton got a dose of culture when she visited The National Portrait Gallery on Tuesday to open the gallery's new Olympics-themed exhibition.
With excitement building ahead of the start of the Olympics, Kate toured the images of famous faces and newcomers all hoping for medal success.
The duchess arrived at London's National Portrait Gallery for the viewing wearing a short-sleeved electric blue Stella McCartney dress and an Olympic-themed necklace.

Around her neck was what appeared to be a gold chain necklace with a large hoop at the end.
The duchess has a close connection with the National Portrait Gallery as she is its patron and has a formal role with the Olympics as an ambassador for Team GB and ParalympicsGB.

The exhibition - Road to 2012: Aiming High - is the third and final instalment of a three-year project that has showcased world-class Olympic and Paralympic athletes and those working behind the scenes.
Last year the Changing Pace exhibition was staged and in 2010 Setting Out was the name of the inaugural event.
Sandy Nairne, the gallery's director, said: "Road to 2012 is an essential element of the Olympic and Paralympic Games made possible through the generous support of BT and the close involvement of London 2012.
