A man who died after plunging nearly 100ft from a sixth floor balcony bar at the Tate Modern gallery in London has been named by police as Michael Foreman.
Mr Foreman, 48, was a married commercial banking manage, who HSBC confirmed was a long-standing employee at the bank's head office in Canary Wharf, east London.
A spokesman for HSBC said: "Our thoughts are with his wife Janet and his family at this very sad time."
He confirmed that Mr Foreman was reported missing the day before he died.
The incident was witnessed by hundreds of tourists, many of whom were sunbathing outside the iconic building.
Mr Foreman fell from the members' bar balcony around 6pm last Tuesday evening.
Onlookers were stunned by the incident, with one tweeting that "Seeing the guy who had committed suicide and jumped off the Tate modern has been the most traumatic thing I have seen".
London Metropolitan Police said the incident was reported at 5.55pm, a very busy time of day for the Tate Modern, and a London Ambulance attended.
A Tate Modern spokeswoman said: "Our deepest sympathies go to his family. The police are investigating the incident."
