Opening Ceremony Album Worldwide Best Seller

An album containing music from the London 2012 opening ceremony has sold more than 10,000 copies within 24 hours of going on sale.

The compilation, named Isles of Wonder, is number one in the iTunes Store album chart in the UK, France, Belgium and Spain, and it reached number five in the US.

Iconic British artist David Bowie features on the album

The release, which was also number two on Amazon's best-selling downloads list, includes music which featured in Friday night's spectacular show at the Olympic Stadium, with tracks from Dizzee Rascal, Emeli Sande, Underworld, David Bowie and The Chemical Brothers.

The spectacular opening ceremony has been one of the most talked about events of the Olympics' first weekend

A spokesman for the Official Charts Company said 10,000 copies of the album were sold on Friday night and Saturday, earning it the number five spot in this week's compilation albums chart.
