Prince William Rescues Schoolgirl From Sea In RAF Mission

Rescued By A Prince: William Helps Save Surfing Schoolgirl

Prince William was involved in an RAF rescue mission to save a teenage schoolgirl who found herself in serious danger while she was out surfing off the Welsh coast on Thursday night.

The second-in-line to the throne, who was alerted to the girl's plight by surfers, piloted the RAF Sea King helicopter as his crew winched the 16-year-old to safety, the Daily Telegraph reported

One of the team members involved in the recue said: "[The girl] had scrapes, was very cold, shocked and had swallowed water. She had been in serious difficulties and was very lucky."

The Duke of Cambridge then started searching for the girl's 13-year-old sister before discovering she was safe on the shore.

Both girls were taken to Bangor Hospital for a check up.

Flight Lt Wales - his RAF title - has been a search and rescue captain since May and is based in Anglesey.
