A 20-year-old has Briton died after getting in difficulties while swimming off the Maltese island of Comino, police said.
"He was swimming in the Bay of Santa Marija and got into difficulties," a police spokesman said.
"He was assisted by some people who were in the area and brought to shore and given first aid.
The police have not released the name of the victim
"He was taken to Mater Dei hospital by a helicopter from the armed forces, but unfortunately has died."

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
The spokesman did not have a name for the victim.
The Foreign Office had no information on the incident.
