Bad Piggies: New Details Leak About Rovio's Angry Birds Follow-Up

'Angry Birds' maker Rovio has revealed new details about the game it hopes will recreate its famous, furious feathered ones' success.

And after the relative damp squib of the company's last franchise launch - Amazing Alex, a game which hit number one in the charts before tumbling down to the mid-60s in just a few weeks - they better hope it does.

Bad Piggies is a physics puzzle game which will feature the famous round, green enemy hogs from the original Angry Birds game.

It's set in the same universe, and has players attempt to build vehicles and devices to help get the pigs up to the very same eggs that the Angry Birds were defending last time around.

Sounds familiar? Well don't worry - this appears to be a totally new gaming experience.

Fast Company recently took a closer look at the game, and said that "there are no birds in sight, and the pigs are bouncy, jovial, and downright likable".

Which is a shame in a way, since we've all just spent two years trying to destroy them.

It added that the game is just as addictive as the original, which has now passed 1billion downloads and still has 200milion active players.

Other early reports suggest that it will be easier to play than Amazing Alex, and resemble Angry Birds in its pick-up-and-play mentality.

The game will cost 69p, and will hit iOS, Android, PC, and Mac on September 27 - and that's not all. Rovio is already planning for a line of Bad Piggies merchandise, to match the massive Angry Birds toys, accessories and clothing lines which now make up 30% of its revenue.

As soon as we get our hands on the new game we'll have a review here on HuffPost - but in the meantime get your touchscreen skills in training: it looks like you're going to need them.
