IPhone UDID Hack: How To Check If You're Affected

A group of hackers has leaked more than a million unique iPhone ID after claiming to have breached an FBI laptop.

The news is concerning because the group also claims it has the contacts, user names, device names and phone numbers of the users affected.

We've detailed the story in full here - but how can you tell if you're one of those compromised?

Luckily you don't have to mess around with the hackers own complex (and risky) files.

The Next Web has provided a handy tool to check your UDID against the database.

But how do you get hold of your UDID?

Just follow these steps:

  1. Plug your iPhone into your computer
  2. Load up iTunes
  3. Click on your device
  4. Click 'Summary'
  5. Click on your serial number
  6. You should now see your UDID
  7. Laboriously type that long number into Text Edit

Then just simply copy and paste that code into TNW's tool (don't worry - they aren't keeping your details) and check you haven't been caught out.
