Last night's MTV Video Music Awards was undoubtedly all about the British boys (namely five of them called Harry, Louis, Liam, Niall and Zayn), so the girls needed to do everything they could to steal some of the limelight back.
Step forward Rihanna and Katy Perry.
The girls did their bit for the US by leading the glamour at the ceremony, where they turned up in some stunning frocks.

Katy kept it bang on trend as she took to the red carpet wearing a black sheer dress with red and blue detailing, debuting some new hair extensions.
Meanwhile, Rihanna stunned as she kept it simple (for once) in a floor-length white gown with twist detailing at the front.
She was also showing off her dramatic new haircut, which has seen her swap her tumbling curls for a short pixie crop.
Later in the evening, she took to the stage to perform new single Cockiness (Love It) along with her hit We Found Love, which helped her take home the award for Video of the Year and Best Electronic Dance Music Video.
The bash gave RiRi and K-Pez the perfect opportunity to rekindle their womance - let's just hope Katy gave her a good talking to about kissing Chris Brown...
