Ne-Yo Hits The Top Of The Singles Chart With 'Let Me Love You' Collaboration

Who Hit The Number One In The Singles Chart This Week?

R&B star Ne-Yo has edged it to the top of the singles chart following a fierce new entries face-off pitting him against The Script ft Will.i.am and P!nk.

There were only 2,000 copies in midweek separating the American chartbuster's new track Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself), The Script's Hall of Fame and Blow Me (One Last Kiss) by feisty songstress P!nk.

But music lovers voted with their feet and led Ne-Yo to his fifth official number one hit in the UK after selling 11,000 more copies than The Script's collaboration with Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am.

Ne-Yo's hit stormed to the top of the charts after a midweek surge in sales

The Grammy Award-winning artist's previous hits include So Sick, Closer, Beautiful Monster and 2011's Give Me Everything (with Pitbull and Afrojack).

The singles charts' highest climber was Professor Green, who saw his song Avalon jump 133 places to number 36 following concerns this week that he has had a cancer scare.

Another battle raged in the albums rundown, with indie favourites The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club going head-to-head for bragging rights with their respective new offerings, Come Of Age and Beacon.

It was The Vaccines' brand of teen rock which ultimately took the prized top spot as the west London-based outfit were crowned with their first-ever number one album.

County Down trio Two Door Cinema Club had to settle for silver but will be happy to have scored their highest-ranking hit since debuting in 2007.

Meanwhile, Emeli Sande dropped to number four with Our Version Of Events after the record last week overtook Adele's 21 to become the biggest-selling album of 2012 to date.
