Leica Paul Smith X2 Special Edition (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Want A Leica Designed By Paul Smith?

If owning a Leica isn't already enough of a fashion statement for you, how about this?

Alongside a range of new devices, the camera specialists have announced an exclusive special edition Leica X2 designed by Paul Smith.

The British designer's trademark bright stripes are added to the Leica's traditional black and silver design - and yes, the Leica red dot is present and correct.

The top of the camera is coloured with bright orange, while "British racing green" adorns the bottom of the leather trim and the base is bright yellow. It also includes a unique "lightbulb" on the flash button and is individually numbered.

It also has an APS-C format, professional CMOS image sensor with 16.5 megapixels and a classic Leica lens.

Just 1,500 of the new cameras will be made, Leica said.

"What the red dot is to Leica, above all bright stripes are to Paul Smith designs and the most wonderful proof that they can live in perfect harmony is embodied in every single one of the 1,500 cameras of the strictly limited Leica X2 Edition Paul Smith."

The camera also includes various Paul Smith accessories, including a camera protector, a lens cleaning cloth and a camera strap.

The camera will cost about £2,000 when it hits the UK in October, available from the Leica store in Mayfair.
