Facebook: 'Bug' Means Old Private Messages Could Be Appearing On Timelines

Private Facebook messages could start appearing publicly for European users after French and British users of the site reported a "bug" that makes private conversations appear on their timelines.

Le Huffington Post, HuffPost UK's sister site, reported that the bug or security failure shows private messages further back on users' timelines with some people seeing private messages from 2007 to 2009 on their walls while others have viewed messages on their timeline scrolling back as recently as 2011.

To delete these messages, click "edit" and hide it from your timeline.

Le Huffington Post reported that messages are still visible on walls of friends, if they do not delete them as well.
