Speaking a day after the launch of L'Huffington Post in Rome, Arianna Huffington talked about the challenges of introducing the online news platform in the fourth European country. El Huffington Post and Le Huffington Post were introduced in Spain and France earlier this year.
Although only 50% of the population in Italy uses the Internet, the blogosphere is very active and social media has exploded, something L'Huffington Post intends to capitalise on.
"We have been battling to get it right and battling to get something right is more important than battling to get it first," she told the conference.
She also spoke on the importance of engaging with readers, adding "we have big projects for citizen journalists"
She told the forum of a new addition to the Huffington Post platform called 'on the ground' where people can talk about what is happening in their community
