STRICTLY COME DANCING: Lisa Riley Lifts Partner Robin Windsor In Her Arms, And Goes To The Top Of Judges' Board

STRICTLY: Lisa Steals The First Show

Strictly Come Dancing has put its contestants through their paces for the first time this year, and it's former soap star Lisa Riley who has impressed the judges the most and gone to the top of the leader-board.

Lisa, who previously appeared in Emmerdale, was surprisingly nifty around the floor and wowed audiences with her Cha Cha performance of Think by Aretha Franklin, a routine that at one point involved whisking partner Robin Windsor in her arms.

Craig Revel Horwood, notoriously the hardest to please of all the judges, spoke for all of the surprised quartet, telling Lisa, "Three words. You can dance."

And the actress and her partner went to the top of the leader-board, scoring an impressive 30 out of a possible 40.

Fellow soap star Sid Owen did well, too, scoring 26 for his routine with dancer Ola Jordan.

Viewers had previously seen Victoria Pendleton succumb to nerves on Friday's show, coming a surprising bottom place which meant tears from the famously competitive Olympic cycling champion, and a comforting hug from her dancing partner Brendan Cole.
