Robin Van Persie Won't Face Ban After Striking Yohan Cabaye

POLL: Should Van Persie And (Tioté) Be Banned?

Robin van Persie will not be charged by the Football Association after he appeared to strike out at Yohan Cabaye.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew had urged the Football Association to take action against the Manchester United striker Van Persie when he appeared to fling his arm out and caught the Frenchman, whose fall to the ground was admittedly delayed.

But Pardew, smarting from a 3-0 reverse to United, said the incident "needs to be looked at" by the FA.

"He's looked at Yohan and he's elbowed him," the Magpies boss said.

"I think that needs to be looked at, if I'm honest."

But the FA is satisfied referee Howard Webb saw the incident and as a result can not punish a player if an official witnessed it.
