X Factor's Lucy Spraggan's Heartbreak As Gran Dies

Lucy Spraggan's Gran Dies

The X Factor hopeful Lucy Spraggan has been dealt a blow after her grandmother passed away.

The singer and guitarist, who is mentored by Tulisa Contostavlos, pulled out of a crucial rehearsal on Monday to travel from London to Kent after hearing the tragic news that her nana Marjorie died on Sunday.

She is said to have passed away in her sleep just hours after watching Lucy get through to the next round, following her stand-out performance on Saturday's live show.

Marjorie has been struggling with ill health in recent weeks, but had been expected to pull through.

Lucy told The Sun: "My nanny was a great woman and she and grandad were together for more than 50 years so I really want to be around to support him and my family at this time.

"My grandad is an amazingly strong and kind man and they loved each other very much. She's at peace now and that's comforting to know. She was so proud to see me singing and I'm glad I made her smile. She'll be greatly missed."

Producers are allowing Lucy as much time at home with her family and grieving grandfather James as she needs.
