Wealthy fans of 'The Hobbit' will soon be able to put a price tag on their love of the stories, when coins featuring the faces of Peter Jackson's upcoming film adaptation's characters go on sale.
'The Hobbit' coins are to be released as official legal tender in New Zealand and will cost over 350 times face value, reports the 'New Zealand Post'.
A gold proof Bilbo Baggins coin can be snapped up for $3,695.00, with a face value of just $10 (£5).
The cheapest coin will cost $29.90 (£15), originally just $1 (£0.50).
'New Zealand Post' has worldwide exclusive rights to issue the official legal tender commemorative coins and fans can pre-order today for mid November 2012.
The first 'The Hobbit' film, starring Martin Freeman and Sir Ian McKellen alongside Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Elijah Wood, Hugo Weaving and Cate Blanchett, will premiere on 28 November in Wellington, New Zealand.
