Buddhist World Peace Centre To Be Built On Banks Of Loch Ness

Buddhists To Cosy Up To Nessie?

Scottish Buddhists are to build a World Peace Centre on the banks of Loch Ness, buoyed by the successful visit of the Dalai Llama earlier this year.

The head of the project, Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche, of the Samye Ling Monastery, is a self confessed Nessie fan.

"I have been following the Loch Ness Monster for so long I have become attached to him, or her, so much that if I can find a place here it will be a wonderful place for us to develop as a centre," he told the The Telegraph.

The tranquil surroundings of Loch Ness will be the site of a World Peace Centre

"If we were to find a place to start the centre it will be somewhere where people from these parts will benefit from.

"It will provide something that the council can never provide."

The centre will provide instruction in yoga, tai chi, and meditation but will not necessarily be strictly centred on Buddhist teachings.

Rinpoche said: "It will be a very, very special and welcoming place where anybody who has anything to offer can work and share with others under the one roof."

The tranquil surrounding of Loch Ness should be an ideal location zen-seeking individuals.

The Dalai Lama visited the Loch near Inverness, and is said to have been rather taken with the area, describing it as his 'most favourite' place in Scotland.
