Andy Murray came from a set down to defeat Thomas Berdych in his opening match at the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

The US Open champion defeated the Czech 3-6 6-3 6-4 at the O2 Arena in his first match of Group A, which also features Novak Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Murray does not have a great record against Berdych having won only three of their previous seven meetings, but despite an early setback he delighted the home crowd with a three-set win.

Murray said: "It was very tough from the start. Every time I've played him this year it's been tough and it's been the same today. You need to treat it like a knockout and I managed to get the win today."

The Scot also admitted he was still to receive his US Open trophy even though he won the final major of the year almost two months ago.

"I won't have it until December, can you believe it?" he added.
