A 27-year-old mum of three has been spared a jail term after attacking a man at a bus stop in a drink-fuelled frenzy.
Nicola Peploe of Cheadle Hulme - who is pregnant with her fourth child - beat Martin Elthorpe across the face with her boot as he waited for a bus outside McDonald's in Stockport.
Peploe carried out the vicious attack after believing that her boyfriend had been insulted by one of two men standing at the stop.
The court heard that Mr Elthorpe was lucky not to have lost an eye after suffering lacerations when Peploe hit him at least five times with her footwear. His nose was also cut in the incident.
The Manchester Evening News reports that Peploe also attacked Mr Elthorpe's friend, Andrew Mansfield.
The court heard that she and her then-boyfriend James Kermode, were arguing in the street after a night out in February when someone shouted at them to 'calm the **** down'. Despite moving on, Peploe and Kermode then returned to the bus stop and attacked the men, firstly Peploe with her boot, then Kermode with his fists.
Judge Maurice Greene allowed her to walk free with a 10-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, and an order to pay £200 compensation to Mr Elthorpe and £50 to Mr Mansfield.
James Kermode was also in court over the attacks and was given a six-month sentence suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay compensation of £200 and £100 to Mr Elthorpe and Mr Mansfiel respectively.
Both Peploe and Kermode must also carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
Judge Maurice Greene told them that there was 'no excuse' for how they had behaved.
"One of the victims could have been drunk and told you to shut up, even levelled some abuse. That gives you no excuse to behave as you did," he said, "You, Peploe, just completely lost your temper. Just after midnight on this particular evening, you went across to the bus stop with your boot and started."
Judge Greene said Peploe had 'behaved like a lout' and if the attack had resulted in Mr Elthorpe losing an eye then she would have 'gone to prison for some years'.
The court was told that the young mum was 'no stranger to the courts', and reportedly has previous convictions for theft, common assault and criminal damage.
Peploe and Kermode both admitted assault causing actual bodily harm to Martin Elthorpe and a lesser charge of common assault against Andrew Mansfield. They were both said to be 'remorseful and regretted their actions'.
