I'M A CELEBRITY: Brian Conley Admits He Was Forced To Leave Over 'Mystery Illness'

Brian Conley Says He Was 'Forced' To Leave I'm A Celeb

Brian Conley has spoken out about his experience on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and revealed he was forced to leave due to hunger.

The TV funnyman made a dramatic exit from the show last week, with the producers claiming he was suffering from a 'mystery illness' and needed hospital treatment.

But Brian has now spoken about his experiences and explained he had to leave because he was so hungry, he was unable to take his anti-depressant tablets.

Members of the camp have had to survive on small portions of rice and beans after Helen Flanagan repeatedly failed the Bucktucker Trials.

Taking the pills on an empty stomach was making Brian feel ill and when the show's makers found out he was not taking his medication, they told him to start again or leave.

Brian broke down in tears and was rushed to hospital, where the full extent of his health crisis was revealed.

He said: "I had an examination and they found out I had malnutrition and I was suffering from exhaustion. That's what the doctors said. They sedated me in hospital and gave me a tablet that would probably knock out a horse for two days. I woke up with a saline drip in my arm thinking what on earth has happened here?

"I was lying in hospital being heavily sedated with a saline drip and suffering from malnutrition – all because of a lovely, fluffy show that Ant and Dec do. I can tell you it's not fluffy out there – it's really tough."

Brian added that since leaving the show, he has decided he wants to talk more openly about depression and has stopped taking his medication.
