The 14-year-old daughter of a former councillor has had some explaining to do after up to 800 drunken youths rampaged through her mother's home causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Sarah Hine had advertised her party on Facebook two weeks ago, reportedly with her mother's knowledge. As a result hundreds of 'guests' descended on the family home in Billericay, Essex, throwing a piano out into the street, daubing sexual graffiti onto walls and smashing up furniture.

Horrified neighbours called the police as the drunken yobs went on a two hour rampage in the house on the quiet street, coming in from as far away as Hackney to join in the affray.

Sarah's mum Esther was in the house at the time of the event, and struggled with her daughter to keep things under control.

She told the Mail that there was around £30,000 of damage caused by the youths, and that her insurance will not pay out because they had been invited in.

"I told the parents I would be here to keep an eye out for trouble," the shocked mum said.

One neighbour described the scenes in and around the house as being 'like Belfast in the 1970s'.

The police said there were no injuries as a result of the vandalism.
