Nintendo has announced new versions of Super Mario, Mario Kart and Zelda for the Wii U.
The Japanese gaming giant confirmed that it is working on a new 3D Mario platform game developed by the makers of Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii U.
It also said it is working on a Wii U version of Mario Kart, an all-new Zelda game and an HD remake of Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
It said that the new adventure title would be much more "open", allowing gamers to complete dungeons in any order they liked. They added it would be more "collaborative" than ever before, allowing gamers to play together.
But the company was reluctant to give details, saying it would release footage of the new games at the E3 gaming conference in the Spring.

Among the other games announcements in its most recent 'Nintendo Direct' session were:
- Lego City Undercover will be released on 28 March 2013
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - 22nd March
- New footage from The Wonderful 101
- Smash Bros U development "is on track"
Nintendo added that a pair of system updates would speed up how the console launches software, and would arrive in the spring and summer.
Nintendo also said it would launch a smartphone app to allow users to browse Miiverse, its social network for games, on the move.
It also said it would launch a new Virtual Console store for the recently released system in the Spring.
But fans were disappointed to learn than any titles purchased on the original Wii Virtual Console would not be transfered for free to the Wii U, or be playable on the Gamepad. Instead users will have to buy the games again - albeit at a special lower price - to play the games on the new system rather than its 'Wii' emulator.
