January transfer deadline day in 2003 wasn't very dramatic. A friend, bunking off from school, sorry, missing school because he was unwell, told me Rufus Brevitt had signed for West Ham United.
It wasn't quite that bad. The mesmeric Christophe Dugarry arrived, Leeds United continued their fire sale and Middlesbrough became the only club to sign two strikers but become less potent.
