'X Factor' Tweets To Reportedly Count As Votes In The New Series

'X Factor' Tweets To Make A Difference

'X Factor' bosses are reportedly considering letting viewers vote for their favourite contestants on Twitter.

According to the Sun, TV executives could let viewers vote for free via the social networking site in a bid to mix things up on Simon Cowell's show.

Fans would apparently have to follow the @TheXFactor feed, which would then follow them, and send a direct message each week for the act they want to remain in the ITV competition.

Producers are said to hope that by simplifying voting and making it free, they could prevent the most talented acts getting the boot too soon.

The move would follow US shows where Twitter and Facebook votes are already counted.

Would tweets have helped Jahmene win the X Factor last year?
